Montreal, july 9th, 1998 Angelo Guzzo, president of Cinémas Guzzo, today officialy opened the chain's newest movie complex in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, on the West Island. The CINEMA DES SOURCES 10 complex consists of ultramodern theatres equipped with the latest projection and sound technology, a coffee shop called the Café Hollywood, and virtual games. The 45,000-square-foot complex consists of 10 2,200-seat theatres and required an investment of $9 million. Beginning this weekend, the theatres will be screening Lethal Weapon 4 in both English and French, as well as Madeline in English. This the only cinema on the West Island that shows movies dubbed into French. « This is a very important moment for us, » said Mr. Guzzo. « We have brought all the expertise we have acquired in the past 20 years under one roof. One of the keys to the success of Cinémas Guzzo, which now has 46 cinema theatres in six complexes, is its willingness to find innovative ways of ensuring the comfort of movie-goers. The public will enjoy the exceptional sound and picture quality in a state-of-the-art environment. State-of-the-art technology The Guzzo cinemas are equipped with Dolby Digital, SDDS Digital and DTS Digital projection and sound equipment. Combined with special acoustic panels, these technologies improve the special effects, to the great pleasure of movie-goers. Films are projected on a curved screen that improves picture quality by eliminating blurry areas. Moreover, the optical quality of the glass ensures optimal picture quality. Unparalleled comfort The seats were manufactured in Quebec according to the specifications of Mr. Guzzo, who also oversaw the design. They have 46 inches of leg room, a rarity in movie theatres. The seats are staggered to ensure all the clients have a good view of the screen. The interior was designed by Connie Mattia, who has been a partner and has worked with Cinémas Guzzo for several years. The entire complex was designed with a special focus on providing comfort, easy access and free movement. « We are extremely proud of this new complex, » added Mr. Guzzo. « With the upcoming opening of two other Mega-Plex complexes and the Marché central project, Cinémas Guzzo will have nine complexes with 94 theatres and 21,200 seats. Our objective is to maintain close ties with our customers and to use all the new technologies available to make every movie they watch a memorable experience.» Cinémas Guzzo is headquartered in Terrebonne, on the outskirts of Montreal.
