Cinémas Guzzo opens four IMAX® theatres in Quebec GRAND OPENING OF IMAX® THEATRE AT MÉGA-PLEX TASCHEREAU 18 WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28! SPECIAL PREVIEW SCREENING OF LA COLÈRE DES TITANS (French version of Wrath Of The Titans) Montreal—March 21, 2012. This past January, the IMAX Corporation IMAX and Cinémas Guzzo announced they had signed an agreement to install four digital IMAX® systems in the Greater Montreal area. The grand opening of the first of these four IMAX® theatres, at the Méga-Plex Taschereau 18 in Longueuil, will take place on March 28, with the screening of the Canadian premiere of the French version of Wrath Of The Titans. Attending the event will be Dan Mazeau, who wrote the screenplay, Mark Welton, vice-president of Imax Theaters, and Vincenzo Guzzo, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Cinémas Guzzo. “The agreement we signed with Cinémas Guzzo in January is part of our national growth strategy for small to mid-sized markets,” said Richard L. Gelfond, CEO of IMAX. “In the past two years, we have more than doubled our presence in theatres across Canada and we’re delighted to continue our growth in Quebec with Guzzo, the largest operator in the region.” According to Vincenzo Guzzo, Cinémas Guzzo is focused on one goal: “We want nothing but the best. And we wanted nothing less than IMAX. For us, this goal has two raisons d'être. First, it gives our customers the very best experience of what is being done in large-scale cinematography. And, it reminds our competitors that their large-size screens deliver only a pale imitation of the IMAX experience and cannot compare to it,” he explained. With its IMAX Expérience® digital projection system, IMAX enhances the profitability of studios, operators and IMAX theatres by eliminating the reliance on film and offering more movies. The system can project IMAX and IMAX® 3D productions.
